Save the Date: Brash Collection Event, Saturday 7th February

Inishowen Rivers Trust is holding a brash collection event on Saturday 7th February, and we’re asking volunteers and supporters to save the date.

This practical, hands-on day will focus on collecting and preparing brash material that will be used later in the year as part of planned river revetment works. Brash revetments are a nature-based solution that help protect riverbanks from erosion, slow water flow during high rainfall, and create valuable habitat along the river edge.

Using natural materials such as brash allows rivers to stabilise in a way that works with nature rather than against it. Over time, these structures help vegetation re-establish, improve bank resilience, and support healthier river systems.

The brash collection event is an important early step in this process. By gathering and organising materials now, we can ensure everything is in place for revetment work later in the year, when conditions are right to carry it out safely and effectively.

Further details about location, timing and what to bring will be shared closer to the date.
For now, please save the date, Saturday 7th February and keep an eye on our social media channels for updates.

If you’re interested in getting involved in practical river conservation work in Inishowen, this is a great opportunity to take part and support the health of our local rivers.
