About the Role

Inishowen Rivers Trust is looking for a practical, organised person to take on the role of Team Manager and help run the day-to-day work of the Trust.
We are a small, community-led organisation working to protect and improve rivers and waterbodies across Inishowen. This role is central to keeping that work moving, supporting the team, managing funding and finances, and working with local communities and partners.

This is a hands-on role. While much of the work is office-based (admin, finance, funding), it also involves being out on sites, meeting people and occasionally working in field and river environments.

Alongside this, the Trust is interested in developing more collaborative and systems-based approaches over time. We welcome candidates who can bring ideas, experience or curiosity in areas such as community-led approaches, circular or regenerative thinking, and long-term environmental resilience.

What the Role Involves:

  • Managing the day-to-day running of the Trust
  • Overseeing financial management, including budgeting, payroll and reporting
  • Preparing and leading funding applications and grant management
  • Supporting and coordinating a small team, including staff and volunteers
  • Ensuring governance and compliance requirements are met
  • Working with communities, landowners and agencies
  • Contributing to how the organisation develops and evolves over time

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Organised and reliable, able to manage systems and finances effectively
  • Practical and able to get things done in a small organisation
  • Comfortable supporting and guiding a team, while maintaining structure and accountability
  • A good communicator who can work with a range of people
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative but sometimes complex environment
  • Able to build relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
  • Interested in environmental work and community engagement
  • Open to new ways of working and improving how things are done
  • Comfortable being both in the office and out on the ground

This role would suit someone who enjoys improving how things are done, not just maintaining systems.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience managing administration and organisational systems
  • Experience in financial management, including budgeting, payroll and financial reporting
  • Experience preparing and leading funding applications and grant management
  • Experience managing or supporting staff and/or volunteers
  • Environmental qualification OR practical experience in environmental or land-based work
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors when required
  • Full driving license and access to transport (or equivalent mobility)

Desirable

  • Knowledge of rivers, water quality or catchment-based work
  • Interest in or experience of collaborative, systems-based or regenerative approaches

What We Offer

  • A flexible 4-day working week (30 hours)
  • A varied role combining office work and time outdoors
  • The opportunity to play a key role in a community-led environmental organisation
  • Training and support, including environmental learning
  • 25 days annual leave (pro rata)
  • Time in lieu for evening and weekend work
  • Travel and subsistence expenses

Additional Information

  • Application Deadline: Friday 15th May
  • Start Date: As soon as possible following interview
