Our Green Guardians Biodiversity Training has now come to an end, and we want to extend a huge thank-you to everyone who took part. Across July, August and September, 73 people joined us to explore the incredible biodiversity of Inishowen, from soils and rivers to insects, birds and marine life.
Each session offered something memorable. In Clonmany, we learned about soil structure and the fascinating mycelial networks that help keep ecosystems healthy. During our pollinator workshop in Buncrana, we were lucky enough to witness a wild bee swarm move into a hive, a rare and special moment for everyone there. Our bird events brought new discoveries, and the boat trip to Inishtrahull delivered some real highlights, including dolphins and even a starfish spotted in the shallows.

Huge thanks to our brilliant facilitators, KPM Soils, Naturenorthwest, Boomtree Bees BirdWatch Ireland and our very own John Doherty. Thanks also all the volunteers who supported each session.
Participants were also encouraged to keep recording their sightings using the National Biodiversity Data Centre’s Citizen Science Portal:

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make Green Guardians such a great series of event.
