We’re kicking off Biodiversity Week 2026 with a summer-long community biodiversity challenge with one goal: to help Donegal achieve the highest number of biodiversity records in Ireland!
This first event will introduce people to the National Biodiversity Data Centre recording system and show just how easy it is to record the wildlife around us. Together we’ll explore Tremone Bay and learn how to record plants, birds, insects, marine life and more.
You don’t need to be an expert to take part. Whether you love wildlife or simply enjoy being outdoors, everyone can get involved.
After this event, we’re encouraging people to continue recording species throughout the summer months wherever they are across Donegal. Every sighting added to the national database helps build a better understanding of our local biodiversity and supports conservation work for the future.

We’ll then meet again in October to review all the records collected over the summer and see just how much wildlife the people of Donegal have helped document together.
