Happy World Wildlife Day

Today is World Wildlife Day, 3rd March.

Wildlife isn’t something remote or removed from us, it lives alongside us.

It’s the curlew calling over the fields.

It’s the otter slipping quietly through a river at dusk.

It’s the pollinators working in our gardens.

It’s the seaweed, the shorebirds, the life beneath the tide.

Here in Inishowen, wildlife shapes who we are.

Our rivers, coastline, wetlands and farmland are alive, but they are also under pressure.

  • Clean water matters.
  • Healthy soil matters.
  • Space for nature matters.

Every positive action matters. At Inishowen Rivers Trust we work on helping to improve water quality on farms through our Farming for Water EIP, to restoring riverbanks, carrying out brash bundling and nature-based solutions, delivering biodiversity training through Green Guardians, working with schools on River Bingo and citizen science and recording species for the National Biodiversity Data Centre,

It’s the small, steady actions, taken together that protect our rivers, wetlands and coastline for the future. If you are interested in hearing more about our Farming For Water project or becoming a volunteer with Inishowen Rivers Trust drop us a line at [email protected] for more information.
