WORLD WETLANDS DAY CELEBRATION

On Saturday we were treated to a fantastic visit to Sharagore Wetlands in Desertegney hosted by Wild Inishowen Club who have been working to restore this wetland and create a recreational trail. It was a thrill to see how much work has been done over the past few years and meet old and new friends.

We heard about the work to catalogue the species present on the 11 acre site (120 species of moth(!), garden birds, hawks, warblers, and even passing mallards. We visited the new pond, tree planting and new access path. An amazing project from an amazing group of dedicated volunteers.

Finally ending with a cup of tea and chat. We look forward to repeat visits in the future.
