Farming For Water Measures Booklet

A clear, practical guide outlining the actions farmers can take to protect and improve water quality on their land. The booklet explains each available measure, why it matters, and how it helps reduce runoff, prevent pollution, support biodiversity and build resilience to heavy rainfall. It serves as an easy reference for planning improvements across the farm and understanding the supports available through the Farming for Water EIP.

Farming For Water EIP Information Leaflet

The EIP is open to farmers with land in priority catchments where targeted water quality improvements are needed. Farmers located in these priority catchments are potentially eligible for EIP funding and the catchments are identified in the map located here www.gis.epa.ie/EPAMaps/agriculture

Nutrient Management Plan Farming For Water

A nutrient management plan (NMP) provides farmers with valuable information on the nutrient status of their farm/farming system. The aim is to inform farmers when & where to apply nutrients to achieve optimum slurry recycling and nutrient uptake by plants and to prevent over application of nutrients.

Rainwater Management Plan Farming For Water

A Rainwater Management Plan assesses how water moves across the entire farm, through the yard and the land, to identify the best places for mitigation measures. It looks at rainwater, surface water and groundwater, showing where nutrients, pesticides and sediment can be diverted or retained to prevent them entering local watercourses. It also considers how the farm can cope with heavy rainfall events. A plan must be included with every application, and farmers receive €250 on completion. See the link below for details.
