Inishowen Rivers Trust recently hosted Lisa McDaniel, the Donegal Community Water Officer of the Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO) for a number of site visits around the Clonmany area.
Lisa was interested in checking out our natural flood management infrastructure around the Ballyhallan River and how this could be extended to the surrounding river catchments.
A site visit is never a site visit without getting lost the countryside, however, we managed to locate some leaky dams, throw up a drone in windy conditions, inspect potential river monitoring locations and take a walk up to the picturesque Glenevin waterfall all the while discussing nature based solutions to flood management. Luckily the weather was amenable to our tour and showed its best side during Lisa’s visit and she left Inishowen well informed of the type of work IRT are currently involved with.
