Saturday 22nd February 2020 – 10am – 3pm
At the Inishowen Rivers Trust we love to encourage the planting of trees and this year again we are giving away native trees to anyone with the space to plant them! With the kind support of the Community Environment Action Fund (Donegal CoCo and Dept of Communications, Climate Action & Environment) and the Trees on the Land charity.
Trees are a fantastic way to help our planet as not only do they produce the oxygen we breath but they also provide a habitat and food source for many bird and insect species, they also absorb air pollution, reduce noise pollution, and hold water in the soil thereby helping to reduce flooding. Impressive!
This year we have secured 1250 trees and will be planting many of these on the grounds behind Mary Crowley’s Art Studio in Urris. If you feel like doing your bit for the planet do join us on Saturday 22nd Feb at 10am where we will learn from forester Ross Buchanan how best to plant and maintain the trees and then plant as many trees as we can. But it won’t be all work as we will have refreshments and lunch will be provided. Come along for an hour or more and chat while you work!
Everyone is welcome to this event. Please bring a spade and gloves. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
