The Inishowen Rivers Trust recently took part in the One Million Trees in One Day initiative, a project of the Forestry Foundation, supported by the Woodland Trust. This ambitious project aims to plant one million trees in 24 hours across the whole of Ireland. The Inishowen Rivers Trust purchased some trees for the event and offered these to community groups in Moville to plant on Feb 11th 2017.
A wonderful crisp morning greeted the ten volunteers who met on the Bredagh River to plant new hedging. Volunteers from Celebrate Water, the Inishowen Rivers Trust, the Loughs Agency and the Bredagh Tús workers quickly planted the native hedging which will blend well with existing hedgerows of hawthorn, holly and blackthorn. A further 6 trees were planting in Rosebank Estate with local resident Frank McDermott.
Many thanks to the Loughs Agency volunteers and local volunteers for a very relaxed morning of chat, conservation work and a bit of healthy exercise!
