Gods, Gold & Graft: Lough Foyle’s Nature and Culture
August 2019 – The Inishowen Rivers Trust are delighted to welcome Dr. Liam Campbell to Inishowen to deliver a fascinating insight into the culture and heritage of Lough Foyle for this year’s Heritage Week event. The Local Authority Waters Programme have once again supported the Trust in offering a special, annual heritage event to coincide with Heritage Week. This year is the turn of a firm favourite Liam Campbell, an Inishowen native.
Liam is a social anthropologist (you don’t meet too many of them!) and currently the Built and Cultural Heritage Officer for the Lough Neagh Partnership. Liam will treat us to a perspective of Lough Foyle, it’s long relationship with settlement in Ireland and it’s transformation from a river into the lough we so love today.
After Liam’s talk, the Inishowen Maritime Museum will provide refreshments and we will be further treated to a traditional music session by some of the many talented musicians in the local area. Definitely not to be missed!
Venue: Inishowen Maritime Museum
Date: Sunday 18th August 2019
Time: 2pm – 4pm
Free entry. This event has limited seating so please come early!
