Volunteer with Inishowen Rivers Trust
Help protect the rivers of Inishowen, one small action at a time.
Our rivers need local hands and hearts. By volunteering with us, you're supporting cleaner waters, healthier habitats, and a stronger connection between people and nature.
Everyone’s Welcome
We welcome volunteers of all ages, individuals, families, students, community groups, and anyone with a love for nature.
Please note: volunteers under 18 must be supervised by a parent or guardian.
Volunteering is completely optional, come along when you can, no pressure or long-term commitments.

Invasive Species Control
Help remove invasive plants like Himalayan balsam to protect native biodiversity.
Tree Planting
Support tree planting initiatives around Inishowen by helping to plant indigenous trees.
Citizen Science & Community monitoring
You can help track changes in water health and identify pollution issues early, supporting long-term river care.
Peat Hag Restorations
Get involved by helping to reshape the steep edges of peat hags into gentler slopes to reduce further erosion.
Blocking Drains or Gullies
Help to slow water flow by using peat dams, coir logs, or plastic piling to re-wet the bog.
Contribute to the National Biodiversity Database
Contribute to the collection and submission of valuable records of local wildlife. This data helps monitor biodiversity trends, inform conservation decisions, and guide national environmental policy.

Join a riverbank clean-up to keep our waterways free of waste and safe for wildlife.
